Easter Envelope art 2023

I wanted to show this around Easter but never got a chance. Things just got a bit crazy during the holidays. Mainly the "circus" came back to town next door and not the good kind. The bad neighbour kind. A four clown car circus complete with entourage of foolish "foolowers" as I would call it. Lots of un-purposeful multi door slams followed by honking of the security car alarm. Hopefully their doors will eventually fall off with the wear they placed on them. Lots of money will be uselessly spent too when you fix those doors. Yeah make all that useless petty revenge all you want cause your useless attitude shows where you come from.  All I had to do was place those noise blockers on and leave the room while the fools wasted their time acting like clowns. Get help ass clowns! And oh yeah I copied most of your licenses off your "clown cars" Enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Anyways please enjoy the latest offering of envelope art with an Easter theme, crafted last year. I guess I'll save the latest one for next year. It promises to be a much more embellished and fun one for the eyes and heart. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•

Oh yeah and these are some of the texts from inside of the card I thought looked pretty cool. They were made using ordinary marker and topped off with white using some cheep white acrylic to create the cool FX of neon. Most personal info was hidden because not everything needs to be seen by the internet. Thank you!

Christmas Envelope 2022

I thought I post this anyways even though it's Christmas themed....technically.  Its more envelope art I made based on the theme of a card. This one is a few years old but I only recently had a chance to fix it up for display. The theme was penguin friends giving Christmas gifts to each other. One of them had this fish wrapped up in some festive paper. So I quickly made this cute embellishment onto the envelope using pencil and then painting it with some white acrylic. I was trying to keep things simple so it would look like a gift tag. But I think I went a little over board.

I guess it would also pass as some other holiday decorations too, such as Valentine's day. Its mostly red after all and catching a fish can also symbolize catching one's love or giving a gift of love. Sharing or whatever you find highly of value. I guess it would be in the eye of the beholder as to what it means to someone. Over all its nice to look at. Getting a surprise is nice too.

Oh yeah speaking of surprises, I changed the Twitter/X feed thingy since it wasn't working like it used to. Greedy Elon wants money for that function apparently. So whatever. You can still see the feed but you have to get past the pooping bird button I made and placed in the usual feed spot.  Just watch out for the poop. LOL ๐Ÿ˜›Just kidding, the button will take you to my feed. Not giving that super rich guy what little money I have. ๐Ÿ˜

Easter bunny envelope 2022

Looks like I'm catching up! Yay!

Alright the last few year's I have been working on a secret personal project and was too busy with making homemade cards for friend and relations. So what I usually do is make a little something like decorating an envelope instead. So I drew I little something quickly and added a bit of colour to it.

Hope you like my cute little busy Easter bunny transporting a very large decorated egg. Of course decorated with the address of a friend. For personal privacy, I deleted most of the address.

I used a simple blue drawing pencil for easily erasable mistakes and great for quick sketches, used coloured pencils and markers to add the colour.

Sorry I posted this a bit late for Easter time but it is still April after all.

Also, now available, you can now see my previous card in my personal web site. As always just go to the menu at the side of this blog.

Available for purchase you can now buy this lovely skate board featuring a dynamic little gecko packing POW! He's a Karate expert. I drew him many years ago for a friends profile as a gift. Edited and coloured in a digital image program.

Thanks for visiting! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

An update and a small show N tell

Now displayed at my personal web site "Homemade Fall birthday card 2021 with leaf characters".

The link can be found in the side menu to your right. Also a lovely whimsical envelope art from 2020 that I just got around to sharing. Didn't need to make a card this time around. Just as well, that's when I started to work on this project that's taking a lot of my time for now. Hopefully not all for nothing.  So this cute little envelope illustration I made to match the theme of the card was just all it needed.

Created with coloured pencil, some marker and on an envelope.

Hope you like it.

Homemade Easter card 2020

Last year when the pandemic came out and right around that time it started to rage all over the world. I made this card with that theme in mind, only a bit friendlier in nature. Sure, this situation is not the greatest to be in but I guess its better to be positive instead of the latter.

So anyways I made this card featuring a cute Easter bunny giving out much needed toilet paper and other pandemic fare that was a bit hard to find as a result of pandemic purchasing.

Using some leftover poster board and watercolour paper I had in my "leftovers box", the card was all homemade. I just drew an image that inspired me at the time and coloured it in with marks and some coloured pencil. The background was made using some water colour before the rest of the image was completed of course. Finished it off with some fine tipped marker. The card it self was covered in some tissue paper before I placed the watercolour image on. I also had laying around. I chose red and white since I really didn't have much variety to choose from. I guess in the future I'll have to collect some more from the dollar store or where ever. None the less it really turned out nice and it covered the flaws in the poster board such as wrinkles.  Since I had no envelope to place the card in, I found an old poster I collected a few years before from a store that was selling alcohol. They often get rid of stuff like old poster advertisements, the tubes they come in and other interesting useful things at the end of seasons. So the poster had this nice abstract pattern with lots of cheery colours on it that reminded me of the season of spring and Easter. So I chose a spot to use for the envelope. I was pretty lucky the poster was the way it was and not specific to any image. It made it perfect for that use. So I folded it all up till it finally it became a nice useful envelope. I added a nice piece of copy paper on to the front so that I could put on directions to where it has to go. The envelope was too colourful and glossy to be written on anyhow. Then I just put everything together and sent it off to make someones day last Easter. My friend really got a kick out of it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

semi-homemade Christmas bells and angel greeting card 2019

Another homemade greeting card from last season no doubt. Well semi-homemade. I found this old unused card (probably purchased years ago in the 80's) one time while organizing some stuff. It was still in great shape but a little boring in my opinion. So I decided to jazz it up with a cute angel character since this was a Christmas themed greeting card. Since there was a strong theme of bells also, I drew the little sassy angel character carrying a much too large bell on a piece of tracing paper first. I did this so I can make sure the character would fit on the card and not take up too much space. Then as usual I redrew and traced the character on a piece of card stock and as usual coloured it up. I cut it out and, finally pasted it on and there we go. But I found out that there was no envelope with the card. So I had to make one with what ever I could find. I was lucky enough to score some wrapping paper with the theme of Christmas bells on a shelf in the basement, long forgotten too. Perfect! Made the envelope and placed some white paper on the one side so I could write the important stuff such as mailing address and other. Done!

I will not show it in the usual spot in my personal site but will feature a link to this post there since this card is only semi-homemade.

๐Ÿ”บThis is the original sketch of the sassy angel character I made on tracing paper with blue pencil.

A great pencil to use for sketching drawings of all kinds. Makes it easier to erase and not leave too many strong marks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ”บWhile working on this card I remembered the movie "Its a wonderful life" and the part of the little girl's dialogue in the movie. " Teacher says....Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings."  Anyways I used mostly markers, some coloured pencils and a touch of a special metallic marker. The gold one obviously. I used some kind of tissue paper for the speech bubble so I could get that "see though" look. ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ”บThe front of the envelope. Address and embellishments done in gold metallic markers with a touch of red. Personal parts of the address removed. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Also a small update to some of my links in the side menu. Now usable. LOL ๐Ÿ˜›

Home made Easter card 2019

Oops looks like I made a small "boo boo" in the last one or two postings of my monarch butterfly series. But they're all fixed now and the mistake was not a big deal but it would have bugged me to no end.

Now for some spring time fun. An Easter card I made last year for a friend. Al little late but it still is technically spring. Its fun to look at none the less. But then there are Christmas related things to boost moral being shown too in different media forms so who cares? And besides if I don't I may never show it off. It just accumulates and all that. Also will be showing soon, other card creations with various degrees of fun.๐Ÿ˜Š
Some envelope art a bumble bee.๐Ÿ”บ
Also some envelope art a bumble bee holds a basket and other Easter symbols. ๐Ÿ”บ
The card cover art. A bumble bee with a basket of eggs and real pressed flowers

Some more art in the card featuring another bumble bee and more pressed flowers.

Created the card with real flowers I collected the previous year. Some snap dragons and some type of blueish flower that later turned more purple when I pressed and glued them to cardboard to make them more workable.  Other media used, water colours, markers, coloured pencils. Cardboard and construction paper used as well as watercolour paper with texture. I tried to stick to bright colours instead of overusing the colour black for the obvious bee stripes.
I hope you like it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Turkey card

Now posted in my personal web site the blue sweater with shinny stars.

Butttt oh what's this a lovely card I made last year with a Thanks Giving theme.
I felt bad last year for missing my friends birthday so I made her this lovely card featuring this makeshift turkey in the tradition of children's craft art. OK they usually make it out of a hand prints but this is like the whimsical version for grown ups.
I used a fancy fall leaf from a Chinese/Japanese maple as the tail. The leaf was preserved last year. Then I took scraps of construction paper shaped it in to the other parts of the turkey. Before I glued them on, I coloured patterns of feathers, face and other things that you would see on a turkey with coloured pencil and markers. I glued them all on a scrap of water coloured paper cut and folded in to a nice card, but not folded in the usual way. Picture a wet floor sign. I kind of was going for something different anyways. Pretty pleased with the whole results. Needless to say she was quite pleased too. And oh yeah I did remember to give her a nice card (another home made)this year for her birthday. I made sure I didn't forget. Wrote it on all kind of calendars and it does help to make things a head of time too.
Anyways Happy Thanks Giving ๐ŸŒฐ๐Ÿ—Canadian version. But its also good for the American version too. ๐Ÿ˜

Its almost Easter and oh tomorrow Spring Yay! For once I'm actually sharing something that is Easter and spring related. Some lovely rough drawings of various spring related characters on an envelope that I drew on. The greeting card was store bought this time and for the same good friend.

Christmas card 2018

OK lets get this over with. I know I really should wait until next Christmas or at least July. But if I don't post it now, I may never will. I have a bad habit of getting side tracked and well then things fall on the way side. Oh but don't worry I'll be showing something Easter-y next time I show off card related stuff. So please bare with me.
Here is another card I made for the same good friend. I decided to utilize some of those leaves I collected last fall, along with a few other bits not relating to fall.  I think the most impressive of all the card design was my lettering. It really turned out really nice.
This will be one of those thing that will also be featured in my personal web site since this is a completed project.  This card design is inspired by an old vintage card I got years ago in my child hood from my relatives. I liked the card design so much that I decided to make a similar one for my friend.

BTW the lettering is hand made and done by hand. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Its now or never

Its now or never. This should have been posted about two years ago but it just get pushed back again and again, so I give up. I know its not Christmas anymore but I assure you they're really not that Christmassy but kind of. The following images were sort of Christmas/doodle gifts for a friend that I drew on an envelope. They're not highly developed but they do have some nice shading and are great drawings to see how I go though the process of drawing characters, loosely at least. Normally I like to paint these up or other est but as is are still really nice to look at. Besides I was going for fun and spontaneity. BTW she really enjoyed the drawings too. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Because these are loose character drawings in the raw they will not be featured in my personal site as is,  but I am contemplating on adding a link to them in my personal site in the future.
In the mean time enjoy.

Fall wreath

New this fall. A fall wreath I finished making last year or was that the year before. Oh well but I never got around to show it off yet until now. I actually started it earlier then that, but didn't have all the material gathered. I stared by harvesting a few grape vines in the fall since we have an abundant supply of grape vines that no longer have to support grapes. Why should I have to purchase a grape vine if I can make one after all. Then I slowly bound them one vine at a time with regular non coloured twine till a round wreath was formed. It was easier then struggling just binding them at once. Of course I had to place it aside till I had the right things to decorate with. But at the time I wasn't sure what that would be, but I know it had to say autumn to me. Eventually I settled on decorating it with leaves but I really didn't wanna use real leaves. I knew that I wanted it to last more then just two years. So I ended up purchasing some really lovely artificial leaves I saw at the dollar store. They were just a simple bunch of plastic leaves fastened to a wire branch.  I took a few of them apart and glued them on with some hot glue. Then I placed a few fake plastic berries onto the wreath I found on my walk that I chucked in to my junk box earlier. Its amazing what you can forage for on a walk even if its just a piece of discarded trash. Human nature provides. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Since we have lots of snails on our property I had to place a few of those lovely snail shells all around the wreath too.  No live snail was harmed in the making of my seasonal term. All were vacated anyhow.  To finish off the wreath I applied a nice clear acrylic varnish to really enhance the shells and it really protects quite well too.
So here it its a lovely one of a kind fall wreath to grace a front door and make people happy. ๐Ÿ˜Š

It looks more impressive in person.

A St Patrick's day card

Yet another late display and share. Its a St Patrick's day card I "homemade" for a friend, about last year.
Simply made it quick and I had about lots of odds and ends lying around and I thought why not. So I made it with some scrap water colour paper, a few fake gems, some acrylic paint some other cardboard, some card stock and some coloured paper. Oh yeah I used a nice gold marker for some of the lettering. I guess I even used a bit of coloured pencils in which I forgot to mention in the description at my personal website. Oh well. Oh did I mention the big clover with the gems springs out at you? Well it does, cause I made a mini springy thing so that it kind of pops out at you. A neat little surprise for your eyes.  ๐Ÿ˜Š
